Companion
​
This is an individual providing services in the clients homes. Companion services include trips to doctor's appointments, family visits, playing games, cards, local sightseeing trips, attending movies, writing letters and cards, reading books aloud, etc.
Qualifications & Requirements:

High School graduate.
-
At least one (1) year working as a companion or a care giver.

Effective interpersonal communication skills.

Ability to exercise
good judgment.
CPR certification.

Must be able to read, write and communicate in English and follow instructions.

Selected based on factors such as: an interest in people, tact, a history of emotional stability, dependability in employment.

Must pass a criminal background check.

Must have current
Personal Care Worker
This is an individual who, under professional supervision, helps clients in their homes.

Qualifications & Requirements:
Must be able to speak, read, write & communicate effectively in English, have current CPR certification, pass criminal background check and meet one of the following qualifications:

Satisfactory completion of a nurse aide education program approved by the VA Board of Nursing.

Have certification as a nurse aide issued by the Virginia Board of Nursing.

Be successfully enrolled in a nursing education program preparing for RN or LPN licensure and have currently competed at least one nursing course that includes clinical experience involving direct client care.

Have satisfactorily completed training using the “Personal Care Aide Training Curriculum” Services. This training is permissible for home attendants of personal care services only.
